Angéline Fournier is President of Maeva Investments inc. She works with European and North-American companies and investors in the emerging markets of the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. With a highly professional and reliable network of partners Maeva Investments opens markets, creates partnerships and finds investments for its clients.
In April 2010, Angéline, was nominated in a group of “Women Leaders of the Future” by the business magazine Entreprendre.
An international business lawyer and negotiator by training, she is member of the Bar of Paris, member of the International Bar Association, President of the international section of the IMAQ’s Board of Director (Quebec Section of the Institute of Mediation & Arbitration Canada) and member of the KPMG Arbitrators and Mediators Roster List. She occasionally does training in negotiation and conflict resolution with the Stitt Felt Handy Group.
She is regularly invited to speak in conferences on business development in emerging economies. She has co-authored and authored a number of books and articles including a collective book published by the International Bar Association in October 2010.
Angéline holds a Master of Corporate Law from Paris V (France) and a Master of Comparative Law from McGill University (Canada). She has been trained at Harvard Law School (PIL) in Negotiation and more generally in ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution).
She started her career at the Law Office of SG Archibald in Paris and then continued on to Stikeman, Elliott Law firm in Canada. She has had a diversified practice, mostly in Corporate Law and International Commercial Law. Prior to specialize in international business development, she worked as Vice-President of the Montreal-based Gamma Institute/Isogroup in prospective and strategic planning. She has consulted for number of private and public clients including governments.
Through her work and philanthropy Angéline aims to advance the cause of peace, cooperation and development in the world. She is Vice-President of the New School of Athens on Global Governance, an international initiative whose mission statement is to explore new and better ways of managing the world in a post-crisis context and she is co-organizer of a series of international conferences on that subject.
She is co-founder and International Director of ARTS Global (www.arts-global.org), a non-profit initiative (based in Paris and Cairo) aiming, through Arts, at establishing bridges across boundaries and nations and to contribute to a better world by promoting understanding and peace. She is member of the International Women’s Forum and member of the Arab International Women’s Forum.
Angéline has also been involved in hostage crisis resolution, has worked with Human Rights Specialist and UN Charter of Human Rights co-writer, late Pr John Humphrey and has been a board member of various other non profit organizations like Cedar Crossroad (post-war reconstruction in Lebanon), Free Hostages, Cité Libre Magazine (political and economic debates). She has written for various publications and written two books.
